The River Thames is central to London's prosperity, but in recent years it has reverted to a role it last played more than 150 years ago - regularly acting as an open sewer. Tideway's ambition is not only to clean up the river but also to reconnect Londoners with the River Thames for both business and leisure. The Thames Tideway Tunnel is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the UK water industry involving the construction of a 25 kilometre interception, storage and transfer tunnel running up to 65 metres below the river.

We are delivering Tideway Central with our scope covering the development consent, design and construction works. With a total length of 12.7km, the tunnel between Fulham and Blackfriars will be driven using purpose-built 7.2m diameter EPB TBM’s, running up to 60m deep. Additionally, the works include the construction of eight shafts and pumping stations, logistics and soil disposal via the river Thames.
