Success in the RoSPA Awards 2013 for Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland

Category: General / 09 April 2013

Ferrovial Agroman has been awarded two Gold and a Silver RoSPA award for projects in the UK and Ireland.

Ferrovial Agroman has had its approach to occupational safety and health recognised in an awards scheme run by the safety charity, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Gold RoSPA award has been given to the company for both its Terminal 2A project at Heathrow and the A8 project in Northern Ireland in addition to the Silver RoSPA award being granted for its projects at Heathrow airport (Terminal 3 Integrated Baggage, Terminal 2B Apron and Terminal 2A stands).

The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2013 will be presented in a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday May 15, 2013.

Dating back 57 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas.

The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Ferrovial Agroman has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”

Ignacio Clopes, Managing Director, Ferrovial Agroman UK & Ireland, said: “The fact that we have been given such positive recognition by RoSPA for our works here is testament to Ferrovial’s commitment and each team’s passion for ensuring the safety of our workers is paramount on all sites.”

The majority of awards that RoSPA presents are non-competitive, marking achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels.

Ferrovial Agroman has also recently become members of the British Safety Council and looks forward to actively participating in their awards scheme in the future.
