Project Engineer

Role:

To participate in the management and control of construction activities on the project within established parameters including production schedule, safety, quality and budget.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil engineering or strong relevant experience
  • At least 4 years’ experience in construction

Skills:

  • Experience in civil construction
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to multitask
  • Organisation and problem solving skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in managing numeric information
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with different regulations and standards, e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 1401, AS9100, or other QA standards

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing positive leadership in health and safety
  • Managing safety risks within the sphere of responsibility
  • Monitoring personnel under own control to ensure they comply with individual responsibilities in health and safety on site
  • Controlling cost on the project
  • Monitoring performance on site, including subcontractor performance, against the production schedule
  • Procuring materials, plant and subcontractors
  • Undertaking planning and scheduling relevant to production
  • Liaising with the client as required
  • Engaging and managing subcontractors
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on site
  • Providing assistance to the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer

Earthworks & Structures Agents & Sub Agents

Role:

With the recent award of two significant Highways contracts in Australia (The Northern Beaches Network Enhancement in Sydney and Toowoomba Second Range Crossing in Queensland) we are recruiting for experienced civil engineers

  • Assist in the supervision of construction activities on site, including subcontractors works and site deliveries
  • Manage budgets, program and other project resources.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Health and Safety in accordance with company policy
  • Have a good understanding of the plans, specifications, drawings and reports and ensure that any issues or concerns are immediately highlighted and discussed with the design team
  • Manages a number of earthworks and structural work packages on a large project
  • To provide accurate and timely reporting of progress against the plan

Skills & Experience:

  • Approved BEng/MEng degree in Civil engineering (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience working on large highways construction projects
  • Ability to perform assignments independently with supervision and guidance as required
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice
  • Excellent experience of both earthworks and constructing structures in steel, concrete, timber and masonry
  • Good experience in current British Standards using and able to undertake manual calculations and also computer analysis

Roadway Design Engineer

Role:

Ferrovial Agroman Australia is growing operations in NSW and Queensland.  We are seeking expressions of interest from Civil Engineers focused in design roles, to join our in-house design department.

The ideal candidate will have a design background or degree and engineering skills for challenging the design. As this role is not a construction position the candidate will have a preference for design issues rather than a desire to work on site.

The position offers candidates the opportunity to become a member of the Technical Department in FAAUNZ and has excellent prospects for advancement within a growing organization.

Skills & Experience:

  • Up to 2-3 years' experience in design roles
  • Work in tenders and/or in detail designs
  • Manage designers and monitor design progress
  • Ensure optimization and achievement of cost efficient design solutions
  • Perform design analysis and calculations
  • Coordinate inputs from estimators and construction team into the design solutions

Structures Design Engineer

Geotechnical Design Engineer

Estimator

Role:

Estimator works under the direction of the Chief Estimator or Proposals Director and is responsible for leading all day-to-day aspects of estimating in his/her defined area, including monitoring and pursuing procurement, BOQ and cost estimating. The estimator works closely with a core team while bringing in subject matter experts when required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil engineering or strong relevant experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in civil engineering/construction
  • Previous experience in tendering
  • Understanding of and previous experience in risk management

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team
  • Ability to priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing Requests for Proposals ("RFP") in relation to estimate area
  • Overseeing procurement for the resources required for his/her area of estimation
  • Overseeing BOQ associated to his/her estimating bill
  • Proposing a justified production rate for all items of the estimating bill
  • Analyze and propose different execution strategies for all bill items within a winning strategy goal
  • Producing a rational estimate based in all previous information using computer software (Excel, Candy)
  • Capability to discuss and negotiate the estimate outcomes with immediate superior, other colleges or joint venture partners during the estimating process
  • Risk tracking throughout the estimating process
  • Ensuring compliance with all final proposal requirements
  • Ensuring timely delivery of a reliable and successful-objective estimate

Bid Engineer

Role:

The Bid Engineer assists in the development and submission of proposals and bids; ensuring client specifications, budget and deadline requirements are met.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in civil engineering or architecture (1-2 years of experience)

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Writing and graphic design skills
  • Microsoft Office package (including MS Project and Visio)
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyse technical reports, tender specifications and commercial documents
  • Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing presentations and bidding information (expressions of interests, market soundings, etc.)
  • Producing preliminary reports, pipeline updates, projects and companies research, etc
  • Attending industry briefings, presentations and workshops
  • Developing and maintaining accurate records and files (manual & electronic) of bidding data (i.e. correspondence, quotations, internal input, case studies, corporate presentations, etc)
  • Preparing information packages and applications for industry awards in conjunction with delivery teams and innovation department
